Collection: María Pacas | El Salvador
Maria Pacas comes from a storied coffee family in El Salvador. We have counted Maria and the Pacas family as friends since 2008 when we first met them. Over the years, at various companies we have done some wonderful projects with them. Maria Pacas and her family own several small to mid sized farms in El Salvador. Finca La Providencia and Finca La Esperanza are the most well known. They have their own wet and dry mill and they have won the Cup of Excellence multiple times. Maria manages the entire coffee operation from seed to export overseeing not only the fincas but the wet and dry mill and export operations as well. Fun fact: her family also makes amazing Salvadoran rum.

Farm Info
Maria Paca's Finca La Providencia, located in Cantón Las Cruces, Municipio de Chalchuapa, Santa Ana, sits at an altitude of 1,480 meters above sea level, benefiting from a tropical climate. Managed by Café Pacas since 2007, the farm is a testament to both tradition and innovation.

The farm is thoughtfully divided into 10 plots, each named after Alfredo Pacas Sr.'s grandchildren, cultivating renowned coffee varieties such as Bourbon, Pacas, Pacamara, and Geisha. These varieties are known for their exceptional quality, making Finca La Providencia one of the highest-producing farms in the region.
A distinctive feature of the farm is its Research and Development varietal garden. Here, over 54 different coffee varieties are cultivated on a small scale, with only 20 trees of each variety. This "laboratory farm" conducts extensive tests to assess productivity, disease resistance, cup quality, adaptability, and more, driving continuous innovation in coffee farming.
Environmental conservation is also a priority at Finca La Providencia. Twelve hectares of the farm are dedicated to preserving a wild forest, highlighting the importance of conserving wildlife and native trees. This commitment to the environment ensures a balanced ecosystem and promotes biodiversity.
Managed by Yanira Mendoza, the farm spans 51.54 hectares, combining traditional practices with modern techniques. Finca La Providencia stands as a beacon of excellence in coffee production, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility, setting a high standard for the coffee industry.
Environmental and Social Sustainability:
The Pacas family is deeply committed to social responsibility by paying wages well above industry standards, recognizing the dignity and value of each employee. This initiative improves the quality of life for workers and their families, fosters inclusivity, and motivates the workforce, leading to sustainable growth. By investing in their employees, they inspire community progress. Environmental projects include replanting with premium coffee varieties, cultivating diverse shade trees, using "fosas" to replenish aquifers, employing eco-friendly fertilizers, reducing herbicide usage, enforcing a no-hunting policy, preventing soil erosion, and preserving wild forests to maintain biodiversity and ecological balance.
