Our Approach

Every coffee we roast maps to two things: how it feels in the cup, and what it tastes like. Lively or syrupy. Modern and expressive or classic and grounded.

The Coffee Vibe Machine takes that seriously. Drag the puck, tap a feeling, and it matches you to the coffees that actually fit where you land. No quiz. No "notes of jasmine and bergamot, good luck." Just your vibe and your match.

The Drops are our blended coffees. Built to taste the same every time, even as the coffees inside them shift with the season. Start there if you want to know what Torque tastes like. Then go exploring.

Understanding Single Origins

Torque Single Origins represent unblended, traceable specialty coffees sourced from individual farms and processing centers across Central America, South America, and East Africa. Unlike Compositions (Torque's blended offerings), each Single Origin maintains complete terroir integrity—showcasing the distinct altitude (m.a.s.l.), varietal characteristics, processing methods, and regional microclimates of its origin. These coffees undergo light to medium roast development (estimated Agtron 65-80) to preserve origin-specific flavor compounds developed through Maillard reaction chemistry and post-harvest processing innovations.

Torque's Single Origins category emphasizes experimental processing techniques including double anaerobic fermentation (BomBón), extended natural-process sun-drying (Perla Negra), and hybrid cultivar development (Hybrid 17, Maracaturra). All coffees maintain Torque's Proportional Pricing© model ensuring 20% of retail price returns to origin—significantly exceeding industry standard (5-10%). The collection prioritizes long-term producer partnerships: Francisca Cubillo (Costa Rica, partner since 2009), Juan Diego De La Cerda (Guatemala), Faysel Yonnis (Ethiopia), and Jhoan Vergara/Nestor Lasso (Colombia, partner since 2025). Roast profiles target preservation of hygroscopic volatile compounds and complex acidity structures, with end temperatures typically terminating pre-second crack to maintain fruit-forward expression.
